This year’s inaugural pick-up at the Toronto Life building was nearly unbearable. Staggered home around 4 after succumbing to an update board of relentless disappointment, has to be a record for number of films off-sale prior to exchange. Baked in the line-up that crawled along, and once again my attempts at trading tickets in line ended in naught. I am almost tempted to become a donor next year just to avoid this endurance test. Luckily, I had only six tickets to exchange and while I was not able to acquire some of my first choices (Happy-Go-Lucky, Of Time and the City, and Wendy and Lucy) I think overall my line-up is pretty solid and spaced out enough to give me a chance to do at least more write ups than I was able to achieve last year. My plan is to buy one of those 9” laptops and use it to write on the go, will see how this pans out.
