About Nate

Nate is a high school teacher in his late twenties who lives in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. I enjoy looking out train windows, reading books that summarize and simplify the thought of great philosophers, and listening to music on my iPod.

A few of my interests are as follows:

The American version of The Office is the best thing on television these days. I haven’t seen much film, but hanging around the Pagan Agenda is changing that.

The novels of Graham Greene, Jane Austen, and especially Frederic Tuten are terrific. Recent reads I recommend include Michael Cunningham’s “The Hours”, E.L. Doctorow’s “Ragtime”, and Richard Rorty’s “Contingency, Irony, and Solidarity”.

I enjoy music by Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon), Nick Lowe, Phil Collins, Celine Dion and John Mayer. In recent months my interest in electronic and classical music has intensified; specifically the music of Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Susumu Yokota, Ravel, and Dvorak.

I very much appreciate a good debate, so you are encouraged to disagree frequently and vehemently.
